X Games 16 is Fast Approaching...

It's that time of year again and like herpes, X Games will come and go but will last forever. Ok, maybe that is a bad analogy but you get the point. However, each year these athletes come out and put their lives on the line to prove a point, either to themselves or others. Bottom line though, these guys are gnarly.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to go last year since I had a wedding to shoot but I plan on going this year, as long as EXPN grants my media pass.

I am sure at X this year, there will be a well deserved tribute to Jeremy Lusk. It's hard to believe it's two years since Jeremy won Gold at X Games 14. He changed the game and X won't be the same without him.

Here are some photos that we used at various events, Jeremy's funeral, LLF Gala, and various fund raisers. As photographers, we capture memories, good memories, bad memories, but it's history. A wise man once said, we can't know where we are going unless we know where we came from. Thinking back, I am so glad I was able to be part of some historical X Games history and I hope to be this year!

Bronze ADDY award to The Creative Bar!

I was pretty pumped when my boy Justin Lawler, Creative Director of The Creative Bar sent me a copy of their ADDY Bronze Award for a project we worked together on for their client Pro Armor. I did a photo shoot for their new clothing line, designed by The Creative Bar. Using the photos that I shot, The Creative Bar created the "Pro Armor 2009 Catalog" and submitted it to the American Advertising Federation - Inland Empire. I am stoked they won Bronze and happy I was able to be a part of the project. Good job guys!

Check out photos from the shoot here: http://blog.jakeashcraftphoto.com/blog/2009/4/28/check-out-my-latest-catalog-shoot-for-pro-armor.html

Vanessa James head shots

I love working with my buddy Vanessa. We always end up doing more bs'ing then shooting but it's all good. She was looking to do some head shots so I said cruise on over to my place and we'll bang em out. After shooting, we downloaded the images and she picked out her favs. These are the ones she decided to use. She's so beautiful, all her photos look amazing but you know how girls are, they're so picky. ;)

Portrait session with Robbie Madison for EXPN

EXPN hit me up to head out to Maddos to shoot some photos for a feature they were putting together on world renowned stunt man, Robbie Madison. It was right around sunset and we only had about 30 minutes but I managed to get setup and and get some great shots.

ESPN Action Sports Photo Gallery: Halloween Special

I was pumped when I got the call from ESPN wanting me to pull off a shoot with two FMX athletes for a special gallery they were putting together. They wanted shots of two separate athletes carving pumpkins and posing with them as well as some action shots. For this shoot I selected two icon's of the sport, Todd Potter and Beau Manley. So I gave a call to my agent, Michele Johnson of Icon 1 Agency to line it up. She dialed in the athletes and the location. I was pumped when she told me she found a pumpkin patch in Temecula at a place called Big Horse to do the shoot.

Below is a screenshot from the gallery as well as some other photos from the shoot.
